Polycarbonate (PC) Injection Molding
Injection molding is used to produce plastic products or molded parts. In this technique, plastic granulate is melted and injected into an injection mold under high pressure. The liquid plastic will then take on the shape of the mold cavities. After the liquid plastic has cooled, the material has the desired hardness, appearance and shape.
The material of the plastic is of great importance for the quality of your final products. We consider which material is most suitable for each injection molded product. Fleur Plastics uses various injection molding techniques. The choice for a specific molding technique depends on your wishes and requirements for each project, but also on our advice in the field of technical and economic manufacturability. Each product is priced separately, so choosing the right material can immediately save costs for you. One of our materials known for its combination of stiffness, strength and toughness is polycarbonate (PC).
Advantages of polycarbonate (PC)
Polycarbonate (PC) excels through a combination of stiffness, strength and toughness. In addition, it is one of the most transparent plastics and this offers many possibilities during coloring. PC has very low post-shrinkage compared to other plastic materials. PC can offer excellent dimensional stability for various applications due to its negligible moisture absorption.
Polycarbonate / Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (PC/ABS)
PC/ABS is a mixture of polycarbonate and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS). Combination takes full advantage of the positive properties of these two polymers. This mixture combines the strength and heat resistance of polycarbonate with the flexibility of ABS. PC/ABS also offers improved performance during injection molding, increased toughness and dimensional stability, higher heat resistance than ABS and improved impact resistance at lower temperatures than PC.

Polycarbonate's Applications
Because polycarbonate has negligible moisture absorption and is known for its stiffness, strength and toughness, the material is extremely suitable for remelting into lenses, indoor and outdoor lighting, housings for mobile phones, electrical components, medical equipment, drinking glasses and greenhouse construction.
Polycarbonate (PC) Considerations
Are you considering opting for polycarbonate? Then it is important to take the following factors into account:
- External pressures may cause polycarbonate to crack, also known as stress cracking;
- Because polycarbonate is a plastic of high quality, it has a relatively high raw material price;
- Polycarbonate is not Bisphenol A (BPA) free;
- Polycarbonate has a low chemical resistance.
Outsource PC injection molding to Fleur Plastics
Packaging, consumer goods and almost every other type of product you can think of contain plastic. Most of these products are manufactured by means of plastic injection moulding. The basis of the injection molding process is a product drawing. Your product or idea is visualized for you in this 3D drawing. After the drawing is made suitable for injection molding, the injection mold is made. The injection mold is developed specifically for your part or product. Then the liquid plastic is injected into the injection mold and solidified by means of cooling. Fleur Plastics can assist in all parts of this process. Whether you already have a mold, or only have a product idea, we are the ideal partner for the production of your plastic products.
